Teachers – can you help?

Dear parent/carer/ teacher

The website, www.newgenerationteachers.com is designed for teenagers (age 13-19) who might be interested in learning to teach. The site works whether or not teenagers have a younger child in the family (for teaching practice).

There’s a certificate of recognition to donwload for doing a short course that includes designing lessons for a younger child.

There are lots of other advantages and skills that course participants will develop when they use the site. These include project-planning and looking for creative solutions. There are also top tips about how scientists and other scholars use different areas of knowledge we learn about at school – to address world problems.

The NewGenerationTeachers website has projects for teenagers to do with each session. We don’t ask young people for their names or contact details. But parents/carers/teachers can forward teenagers’ projects to us – for display and prizes. If we can come back to you with details – let us know by emailing us.

We want the NewGenerationTeachers website and other resources we create to be as useful as possible. Please let us know what support you hope a teenager will get out of using the site – and why. Email us at  LASAR@canterbury.ac.uk

NewGenerationTeachers.com has been produced by teacher trainers in the Faculty of Education at Canterbury Christ Church University. We have courses for future teachers and we run lots of activities for schools too.
